Paul William Rogers (b. October 23, 1968) is an American songwriter, singer and multi instrumentalist from Akron, Ohio.

Career

Early Days

Paul got his first guitar, a Gibson Les Paul TV Model at age 11 and started writing songs immediately. many of these earliest songs were discarded until Paul felt that the songs he was writing were good enough to show to the public. Paul was heavily influenced early on by The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Jimi Hendrix. Later as a teenager his influences turned to Punk rock bands such as The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Circle Jerks, and Husker Du. Later in his life, bands such as Nirvana, Weezer and Pixies would continue to be influential to his writing process.

First Bands

Right out of high school Paul formed Ritual with Paul Antonelli and Mike Crispin.

Paul and Jay era

Paul met Jacob Painter in 2004, three years before they started making music together. Jacob was a drummer but also wanted to learn how to write songs. Paul taught Jacob how to play the guitar and Jacob set out on the task of writing his first hundred songs. Merging their styles together became the basis for their first two bands, Phuquz and RunnuЯ.

Murphy's Children

Paul met Victor Murdock in 2011 through a Craigslist Ad that read "Bass player seeks punk band have own equipment and transportation. Vic originally signed up to play with RunnuЯ, but Jacob had to quit due to family obligations. In it's stead, Paul and Victor formed Murphy's Children with Alex Covert (formerly of Subversive Chronicle) on drums.
